About

I am a pediatric physical therapist in Mohave Valley, Arizona.  I own my own business called Therapy Accomplished, providing physical therapy to children in their natural environment (in their home, daycare, community, etc.).

I hope to provide my patients with a unique therapy experience . . . I focus on the “whole child”, including the family! I will provide your child with the tools needed to fulfill his/her dreams! I hope to provide the family the support and information needed to help make their lives easier!

I started this blog to provide families with ideas that can make their children’s and the entire family’s life easier.  This may include:

  • Behavior,
  • Recommended books,
  • Family and children’s events in the community,
  • Specific diagnoses,
  • Best (and worst) equipment
  • Recommended toys,
  • And much more!

I also want to provide a place for families to come for home exercises and activities recommended from their therapists.  This may include:

  • Activities to do at home to encourage gross motor development,
  • Activities to do at home to encourage fine motor development,
  • The best obstacle courses made at home,
  • How to make therapy equipment and toys,
  • Stretches,
  • Exercises,
  • And more!

This will be a place therapists will enjoy to find out about:

  • Great book recommendations,
  • Classes in the region,
  • Home program ideas for your patients,
  • Information about diagnoses,
  • And more!

I am one of the luckiest people to have figured out my passion and future career at such a young age . . . as a girl scout, I knew I wanted to work with kids with special needs and found the field of physical therapy when I worked at a PT clinic in my small hometown of Winnemucca, Nevada. Since then, I have been on the path to helping children and families meet their goals and live their lives to the fullest. The kids {and adults} I have worked with inspire me everyday! It is amazing to see the world through their eyes!

I graduated from Oakland University in Rochester Michigan with a Bachelor’s in Health Science and then a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. I thought when I graduated, my education was complete . . . boy was I wrong! It had just begun! My latest educational accomplishment was completing my NDT Certification which has changed the way I treat, and look at all my kids. I have taken many continuing education courses, including Neuro-Developmental Treatment for Children with Cerebral Palsy and Other Neuro-Motor Disorders, Gait Training and Orthotics, Aquatic Therapy, Wheelchair/Seating Systems, Myofascial Release, Sensory Processing Disorders, Autism, DIR/Floortime, and many more. I LOVE learning! And will never stop!

I have worked in a variety of settings.  Outpatient Pediatrics, Homecare Pediatrics, Aquatic Therapy, Outpatient Orthopedics, Outpatient Neurological, Homecare Geriatrics, Hospital Inpatient, Hospital Acute Rehabilitation, Skilled Nursing Facilities.

I live in the middle of nowhere in Mohave County in the middle of the desert.  I moved to Arizona in 2009 and have loved it immediately.  The Arizona skies are amazing!  I love the sunsets, sunrises, and the amazingly starry nights!  I am married to the most amazing man, Jason, who has been such an influence on me.  I am so blessed to be spending my life with my best friend!

I plan for this blog to be intereactive, so please comment throughout and let me know what you think.  I would love to hear from you!  Email me at Tricia@TherapyAccomplished.com.  Or check me out on Twitter or Facebook.
